5 different hairdos to-do this summer

Up-do's to keep you keep cool and breezy this summer

For us long-hair-lovers, summer is a bit of a messy patch. With sticky strands and sweaty necks, all of us have had one too many thoughts about chopping off the lovely locks we spent a year building. Well, here’s an easy-peasy-scrunchy-squeezy solution to all of our sun tan nightmares — Buns. Step aside, Nikki Minaj, for this list is about to give you a run for your money. From knots to braids ; bobby-pins to rubber-bands, the following 5 ‘hairdo’s cover the whole plethora of summer hairstyles. So, grab your brush and serum; we have work to do!

1. The bangin’ braid: This one’s for those that sported the adorable bang throughout the winter, but feel the need to knot their hair up for the summers. To begin with, you need to tie your hair into a neat ponytail (make sure you don’t tie the bang as well!). Separate the ponytail into two bunches, one thicker than the other, and plait the thinner bunch into a simple braid. Tie it up, and leave it at the side for a while. Twist the thick bunch around your head so that it coils on top of your head, making sure that the braid is underneath the coil. Fasten the bun with a bobby pin. Then, twist the braid around the coil, and hold it in place with a pin again, and voila! You have a beautiful summery bun at your demand, sweat free…quite literally.

2. Naught but beautiful: Knotted hair-styles are by far the best cheat hairstyles because they’re both elegant and easy — the perfect way to fool the world into thinking you’re hair-savvy. To top it off, Angelina Jolie sported this look! To begin, you need to pull a line with your hand at the top of your year and separate the hair from that parting, leading to two bunches: a thick and thin one. Separate the thin lock into two equal locks again, and tie a half simple knot (like a knot between two strings), and then a full knot that should appear just below the ear, and then another half knot. Continue the 3-knot-pattern around your hair, using the lock with the knots you just made, and another knot-less strand. By the time you’re done, you should have pulled in around 6-8 strands (until you reach the other ear). For the last strand, twist it around itself towards your head and combine it with the knots. Take your knotted strand and twist it towards the other side of your head ( where we started the knots) and pin it to the beginning to the first knot, and voila! You’ve mastered an easy and elegant hairstyle that is perfect for all occasions.

3. The loveable mess: Messy hairstyles are the epitome of nonchalance, and that is a trait all of us possess. They signify the ability to be carefree and attractive at the same time. And the best bit - they’re easy to create! To begin, you need to flip your hair down and up quickly, and ruffling it a little. Then, start pulling the hair into a messy ponytail at the top of your head, and encourage bumps and ridges in them (it helps if you run your finger through your hair while making the ponytail) Don’t finish the ponytail: halfway or just before the strands slip through the rubber band, stop. Take one strand or lock of hair and wrap it around the rubber band to hide it. Remove a couple of strands from the rubber band grip from just above the ear, and ruffle them a bit so they look messy.

4. The C(lip) and the waves: This one’s for the fashionistas who find themselves craving an easy-to-make bun. Firstly, you need to take the strands at the front and top of your hair and pin it up to the top of your head. Then, using the 3 hair style, create a messy bun at the nape of your neck instead of at the top ( The ponytail only needs to be started at the bottom now instead of the top). Then, take individual pieces from the bit that has been pinned up, twist them around loosely, and pin it into the messy bun. Continue this with every piece of the pinned up part, alternating between the sides the piece is pinned to, until you reach the top section of the pinned up hair. Ruffle this part of the hair a little bit to give it volume, and softly pin it to the bun, leaving it slightly loose. Some thin strands can be left untied as well. There you have it - the perfect ensemble for the perfect wavy hair.

5. Curtsey and bow: This one’s for all the curly haired divas, who can’t wait to do something crazy with their hair: make a bow! Pull all your hair at the top of your head and start making a ponytail. Don’t pull your hair completely through and instead make a loop. Divide the loop into two. The ends of your hair, that point downwards, need to be rolled upwards, and tucked into the rubber band, between the two loops. will create the center knot bit of the bow. Ruffle the loops a little pit and pull at the ends so it spreads a little, allowing them to look like a bow. Tug at them a little if you need it to be tighter… and finally — the perfect messy bow. You don’t always need to be handy with cloth and patterns to sport this gorgeous hair-do!
