Four multilevel parking spaces soon in Hyderabad

Moazzam Jahi Market-Nampally stretch to be decongested

Hyderabad: Four multilevel automated parking complexes will be built between Moazzam Jahi Market and Nampally by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

The city planning wing has identified four vacant government plots where these complexes will come up.

This stretch provides major connectivity to Abids, Charminar and Koti, and is one of the city’s major commercial stretches. Due to the wholesale market, it is congested throughout the day.

The project is expected to be completed in 14 months.

The multilevel automated car parking facilities are an initiative of the GHMC to decongest parking spaces and would be the first in Hyderabad. Once completed, each will accommodate 440 cars and 250 two-wheelers. The scope of work includes design engineering, civil and structural works.

Sources said that security and safety of the vehicles parked would be handed over to a private party, like any other paid-parking facility. Measures like Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras and other security systems would be the contractor’s responsibility.

The GHMC will call for tenders in the coming 10 days.

Security measures

CCTV cameras will be located on each floor of the parking structure and will also be placed to monitor access points (the staircases, lobbies etc.)

The monitoring and control of the CCTV cameras will be from a central monitoring office or booth.

A voice-activated (or noise threshold) sound system will be incorporated in the parking structures. When the voice activated-sound system picks up a loud sound, the CCTV operator will be alerted and he/she can immediately monitor the camera closest to the source of the sound. Each level of the parking structure will be equipped with emergency telephones as well.
