IPL 8: T20 cricket walks out to bat in the park

The 2015 season of the tournament will see Fanparks in 15 cities beyond listed venues

Mumbai: Indian Premier League (IPL), in association with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come up with a new plan to engage fans during the tournament. There will be Fanparks across the country during eighth season of the cash-rich tournament.

Apart from 12 venues, IPL will travel to 15 cities across India through the Fanpark initiative for the fans who are far from the live action.

Hence, excitement and the stadium atmosphere wouldn’t only be in the cities hosting the matches. There will be giant screens installed and more than 10,000 fans are expected to line up to catch the action on a first-come-first serve basis.

Adding to the festival, there will be food and beverage stalls as well as music and separate enclosure for women and children.

“T20 provides the perfect platform for us to grow the game and taking it to newer venues. During the summer, Fanparks will provide an ideal outing for families. It aims to bring the match venues to those who have not been able to watch a cricket match from the stands in a stadium so far,” said BCCI Honorary Secretary Anurag Thakur in the official website of IPL.
