I think 'My Choice' needs to reach out to people who actually need it: Sonakshi Sinha

The actress recently came out in support of the video

Mumbai: In the light of the recent controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone’s short film ‘My Choice’, Sonakshi Sinha has come out in support of the film. The short film by Homi Adjania was made as an initiative by a fashion magazine that aims to bring awareness to the cause of women's rights in the country.

At a recent car launch event, the actress said she is yet to watch the video, but she believes that women who really need it should be given empowerment. She said, “I haven't watched the video but I know about the thought behind it that is women empowerment... it comes from a good space but honestly I believe empowerment should be given to those women who need it, far away from where we are right now."

"I also feel that it is not always about who you want to have sex with and the kind of clothes you wear. It is about employment, strength and stuff like that. So it is a good initiative but I think it needs to reach out to people who actually need it, the deep ends of society."

While you are debating and voicing out your opinions on whether the message conveyed is sexist or not, Sonakshi makes a valid point, do you agree?

The 'My choice' video starring Deepika Padukone and several women from different walks of life took a deadly turn when it moved away from its purpose of empowering women to putting them on a pedestal which has angered many, especially men's rights activists.
