Reliance Power's Sasan UMPP fully commissioned

It is a power plant-cum-coal mining project, with an investment of Rs 27,000 crore

New Delhi: Reliance Power on March 30, said its 3,960-MW Sasan thermal power project has been fully commissioned. "The sixth and last 660 MW unit of the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) has been commissioned," Reliance Power said in a statement.

Sasan project is an integrated power plant-cum-coal mining project at a single location, involving an investment of over Rs 27,000 crore. Coal production has already commenced from the 20 million tonnes Moher and Moher-Amlohri mines associated with the project.

With this unit, Reliance Power's generation capacity has increased to 5,945 MW, which includes 5,760 MW of thermal capacity and 185 MW of renewable energy-based capacity, the statement added. Reliance Power shares were trading 2.55 per cent up at Rs 56.25 per scrip during afternoon trade on the BSE.
