New study curriculum awaits CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s approval

KCR is also expected to provide suggestions on draft and final revision

Hyderabad: Even as government officials are running out of time to begin printing the textbooks for the new curriculum in Telangana, the curriculum awaits the approval of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Sources said that drafts of the new curriculum have already been prepared and officials are only waiting for the Chief Minister to give a green signal.

But what is leaving authorities anxious is that Mr Rao is also expected to give his suggestions for the drafts and the final revision could take additional time. Only a little over two months are left for the new academic year to begin.

A committee of experts formed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) had sent a draft of the new curriculum to the Chief Minister.

Mr Rao gave the same to government advisors K.V. Ramanachary and Desapati Srinivas for study and recommendations.

“They have also given their recommendations and the same have been incorporated by the committee. The final draft is to be approved by the Chief Minister,” a senior SCERT official said.

But while this exercise was completed a few days ago, the final draft awaits CM’s approval. “The entire exercise is already completed and only formality left is for the CM is to approve it,” sources said.
