Hyderabad: The First Additional Metropolitan Session Court in Nampally convicted 20-year-old Mohammed Salman, an accused in a case of gangrape of a 14-year-old girl, and sentenced him to 10 years in prison on Wednesday. The accused promised to marry the victim and sexually assaulted her several times.
Magistrate G. Laxmipathi found Salman guilty under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and pronounced the verdict sentencing him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000. Meanwhile, the trial of three other accused in the case, who are all juveniles, is pending before a juvenile court.
