Telangana to release Rs 350 crore to buy power

Telangana decided against enforcing power cuts immediately

Hyderabad: The people of Telangana are likely to have a cool Ugadi this time around as the state government has decided not to enforce power cuts immediately.

Directing officials of TSGenco and TSTransco, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao asked them to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all the consumers including industrial and domestic users.

The Chief Minister ordered the release of Rs 350 crore immediately to buy additional power from the eastern grid and other sources according to a media release.

“We have to rely on Kayamkulam to overcome the power deficit which is currently at 3.5 MU. The energy required by the state is 150.87 MU but only 147. 52 MU has been met with as on March 18, I have negotiated with power supply sources for the purchase of the required power and the same is being procured,” D. Prabhakar Rao, CMD of TSTransco and TSGenco told the Chief Minister.
