Madhya Pradesh minister, wife robbed, threatened on train by 'organised gang'

‘It was an organized group of 10-12 people, they threatened us’

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya and his wife Dr Sudha Malaiya were robbed on Thursday morning on the Jabalpur-Nizamuddin Express.

The train was passing through Mathura when the incident took place.

According to reports, armed personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) were present on the train, however were low on ammunition and couldn’t offer any help.

Sudha Malaiya said that a group of 10-12 people threatened the couple and other passengers before fleeing with their valuables.

“It was an organized group of 10-12 people, they threatened us. They took away our cash and valuables. They ran away after the Railway Protection Force (RPF) came on the spot,” she said.

A probe has been ordered into the matter and three personnel of the RPF have been suspended.

The matter was also raised in the Lok Sabha.
