Telangana to cut power cuts: K Chandrasekhar Rao

Govt taking steps to ensure a power cut free state this summer, said CM

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said the government was taking steps to ensure a power cut free state this summer.

“Last year, there were severe power cuts by this time. But by God’s grace this year there was no power problem. 99.9 per cent we will ensure uninterrupted power supply. However, from March 25 to April 25, paddy harvesting will be done and there could be some power disturbances for one or two days. But we will try to overcome power cuts from this year,” he remarked. Listing steps being taken by the government, he said never in the history of TS were power projects worth Rs 79,000 crore taken off. He made these comments after TRSLP meeting.

“Damercherla unit works will begin in three days. During my visit to Srirama Navani in Khammam district, Managur power plant foundation stone will be laid,” he disclosed.

The CM said that in the next four years, 4,300 MW thermal power would be increased to 24,000 mw. “There was lot of injustice to Telangana in the power projects in the past and we are trying to rectify it. We will do reengineering of all projects and take up cost effective measures to complete irrigation projects,” he added.

He said neglected roads in Telangana would be recarpetted and new roads laid at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore which includes R and B and panchayat roads. “Tenders have been called, some works started some or over. You will see mirror like roads soon,” he added.
