Comedian Jerry Seinfeld's Mumbai shows cancelled

Seinfeld's performance was part of Stage42 festival

Mumbai: American comedian Jerry Seinfeld's shows, to be held here over the weekend, have been cancelled due to issues related to traffic and parking at the venue, according to organisers.

The 60-year-old actor-comedian is best known for playing a semi-fictional version of himself in the sitcom "Seinfeld" (1989 1998), which he co-created and co-wrote with Larry David.

Seinfeld's performance was part of Stage42 festival and was to be at Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium.

"We regret to announce that the Jerry Seinfeld scheduled to take place this weekend (Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15) have been cancelled... This cancellation is unavoidable due to circumstances beyond the artist's and our control.

"Issues related to traffic and parking at the venue, which were brought to our attention only a couple of days ago, forced the cancellation of all artist travel arrangements pending a resolution of these logical issues," Stage42 Festival said in a statement via Twitter.

The organisers apologized to the fans and assured them that they will receive the full refund of the tickets.

"Fans who have purchased tickets for the shows will be issued a full refund at the latest by Wednesday (March 25)... We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our fans due to this cancellation. Despite this setback, we remain committed to bringing Indian fans world class live entertainment experiences," it added.
