Poor also need good medical services: CM Chandrababu Naidu

He was speaking at a function organised at the Nellore unit of Apollo Hospitals

Nellore: While lauding chairman of Apollo Hospitals Dr Pratap C. Reddy for his vision in developing a chain of world-class hospitals across the country, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday urged him to design cost-effective medical services for the poor.

He was speaking at a function organised at the Nellore unit of Apollo Hospitals after its inauguration.

The CM indicated that the government was ready to float a special purpose vehicle or opt for a Public-Private-Partnership model to join with world-class hospitals to offer the best medical services to the less privileged.

In a lighter vein, he said that Apollo Hospitals were coming up all over the country except in AP and the time had come to pay special attention to the state.

“The Apollo Hospital in Nellore would have been ready two years back if not for the hurdles created by the previous government. It is going to take at least two to three years to correct the mistakes of the Congress,” Mr Naidu said looking towards Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy.

The CM observed that people from Nellore earned money all over the world, but spent very little in Nellore. The time had come for them to invest in their native place.

Praising Apollo for establishing a temple in all their hospitals, Mr Naidu said everyone must remember the power of the divine and that faith played a big role in cures.

“Life is priceless, everyone says. A US scientist said a functional body costs $6,000 trillion. In fact, it is invaluable and we have a duty to look after it,” Dr Reddy said at the event.
