Telangana Budget session: BJP to target poll promises

The BJP intends to focus on the failure of TRS govt in spending Budget funds

Hyderabad: The BJP, with its five legislators in the Telangana Assembly, will focus on the failures of the TRS government, especially on spending Budget funds.

BJP legislators will take up a padayatra from the GHMC office to the Assembly on Saturday to register their protest over the functioning of the government and the GHMC over the last nine months.

BJP legislature party leader Dr K. Laxman gave details of the party’s strategy for the Budget Session beginning on Saturday. He said the government which introduced a Budget worth over Rs 1 lakh crore in the last session had spent less than 60 per cent on all schemes and projects.

“We have decided to undertake a padayatra from GHMC office to Assembly to protest discrepancies in property tax collection and assessment,” said Dr Laxman.

The BJP will concentrate on the government’s failures, particularly on the education front. BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy said the party would raise the closure of tech colleges due to the government’s failure to address the fee scheme, non-filling of vice-chancellor posts to nine universities, 450 faculty posts vacant in Osmania University and non-recruitment of teachers to fill up 13,000 vacant posts
