Hyderabad: Police officials of the Cyber Crime division and Central Crime Station arrested a 47-year-old NRI software engineer on Wednesday for sending abusive and threatening mails to his wife, father-in-law, her friends and also relatives.
The man, S. Praveen Kumar, belongs to an NRI family from the USA. He had a rift with his family following which his wife left him. He was in Hyderabad fighting a case on maintenance charges to be given to his wife in a judicial court in the city. However, the case was not going in his favour.
He regularly started visiting a cyber cafe in Santoshnagar to send derogatory and abusive mails to his wife, sometimes threatening her of dire consequences. A team, led by the sleuths of cyber crime division and the CCS cracked the case and arrested him before he could fly back to the US.
