New Delhi: Railway minister Suresh Prabhu left parliamentarians amused on Thursday by liberally making fun of his name while presenting the Rail Budget.
“Our priority is to improve capacity in high-density sections. But I thought, hey Prabhu (Oh God), how will it happen?” he remarked, drawing peals of laughter from both treasury and Opposition benches.
“Prabhu (God) didn’t answer, so this Prabhu thought, why can’t we do something?” he said. He assured people that large resources and strong political will ensure the “rebirth of the railways”.
In Mr Prabhu’s 60-minute speech, there were quite a few more lighter moments.
