Centre asks MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav to step down

He is set to resign from his gubernatorial post
New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav is set to resign from his gubernatorial post after the Centre conveyed to him that his continuance as governor had become untenable after the registration of an FIR against him in a recruitment scam.
The Union home ministry has conveyed its decision in this regard to the Governor as he has been named in the case, official sources said, adding that his position has become untenable in view of the FIR. Speculation was rife that Mr Yadav had submitted his resignation but the formal letter had not been received by the home ministry till Wednesday night. “The resignation is yet to reach the home ministry,” official sources said.
Mr Yadav was named in an FIR registered earlier this week by the special task force probing the multi-crore Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, or Vyapam, scam for cheating. Incidentally, Mr Yadav, a former UP chief minister, was one of the few UPA appointees to continue even after the change of guard in the Centre.
