Trending fashion: Stitch in line!

Like Shraddha, who recently launched her label Imara, has got a lot of praise for it

Modern-day actresses aren’t all about just being in front of the camera, they are also gearing up as fashion designers in their own right. Yes, that’s the latest hobby for the famous — fashion design. From Hollywood actresses Selena Gomez, Hillary Duff to their Bollywood counterparts Malaika Arora Khan, Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and so many others have geared up to spread their fashion sensibilities to the masses.

However, we wonder, why the sudden interest in fashion. Anjana Reddy, who has collaborated with Shraddha and Virat, in the recent past, shares, “In an actress’s case, her acting career being her primary source of income, building their own fashion labels allow them access to a multiple revenue source and also gives them an opportunity to extend their celebrity value beyond the life-spans of their primary professions.”

Like Shraddha, who recently launched her label Imara, has got a lot of praise for it. The line which revolves around the lines of fantasy, is perhaps the reason why she is traipsing around town dressed as Red Riding Hood and Thumbelina. Similarly, Gauri Khan’s bold prints have caught the eye of the masses. So, are these trends influential due to the fact that they are part of the movie business? Says Anjana, “I also believe that actresses are trend-setters more than followers, given their influence on the public, and should be credited with setting trends that are socially acceptable and well received,”

Ask actress Kavita Verma who has acted in Policegiri with Sanjay Dutt about the trend and she says, “I think one can be talented enough to choose the right things, but if one is skilled enough it benefits and adds to your talent. It always helps if an actress has profound sensibility and taste and if you can put it good use, why not?” Yes, if there is a way to manage time and talent, then why not embrace it.
