No change, Siddaramaiah will stay as CM: Digvijay Singh

Parameshwar said there was nothing wrong in him aspiring to become CM

Bengaluru: A day after KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar said there was nothing wrong in him aspiring to become Chief Minister, AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka Digvijay Singh categorically stated that there was no proposal before the Congress party to effect a change of CM in Karnataka.

Mr Singh’s statement has come as a much needed breather for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his associates who were taken aback by the sudden demand made by the Dalit community that one of their leaders (read Dr Parameshwar) should be made CM. Speaking to reporters, Mr Singh said, “I know every community in the state wants their leader to become CM. There’s nothing wrong in nursing such feelings but demanding a post in the name of caste or community seems awkward.” He added that the Congress had already rewarded a senior Dalit leader, Mallikarjun Kharge making him the party leader in the Lok Sabha.
