THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress Lok Sabha MPs from the State who met AICC general secretary and secretary in charge of the State, Mukul Wasnik and Dipak Babaria demanded that the KPCC- Government co-ordination committee meeting should be held frequently as it would bring about a concrete change in the functioning of the Government and the party alike. Apart from MPs, the AICC leadership also held talks with Congress ministers and MLAs.
K. C. Venugopal, M. I. Shahnavas and Kodikunnil Suresh told the AICC leadership that the high powered committee meeting of the party and the Government was not being called frequently.
Most of the leaders opined that the controversies happening in the Congress party was being unfortunately created from within the party. They said it had to be stopped and disciplinary action taken against those leaders who resorted to creating unwanted controversies.
According to top sources, a majority of the MLAs and ministers told the central leadership that when it came to development and social security measures, it was not reaching the people.
Another grouse which the leaders raised was that various pension schemes, and payment for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act had been delayed.
“One of the senior leaders raised the issue of AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi’s lack of interference against the BJP Government’s fascist movement”, said a KPCC general secretary to DC.
On Monday, the AICC leadership will attend the KPCC office bearers meeting and post noon, the wider executive of the KPCC has been called. Later in the evening, KSU leaders including former leaders of the students wing have also been invited for a special meeting.
Once the meetings are over on Monday, PCC chief V. M. Sudheeran and two KPCC general secretaries, P. M. Suresh Babu and Sajeev Joseph will compile the recommendations received from scores of Congress leaders from the State. AICC leaders will submit the final report to AICC president Sonia Gandhi on February 28.
