Arkavathy scam: BJP has Plan B as Governor refuses to play ball

BENGALURU: With Governor Vajubhai Vala refusing to ball with leaders of the state unit of BJP on Arkavathy ‘re-do’ scam, these leaders have decided to take their complaint against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his alleged role in the scam to the judicial inquiry headed by Justice H.S. Kempanna.

Sources in the state unit of the party said since the state government had constituted an inquiry commission to look into irregularities in Arkavathy layout, the leaders would place their case before the retired high court judge.

The leaders, however, continue to pin their hopes on Governor Vajubhai Vala so that two advocates could petition him for sanction to prosecute the Chief Minister. In order to pursue the case in Justice Kempanna commission of inquiry, the party’s legal cell has collected additional documents which would be submitted to Justice Kempanna soon.

A decision to this effect was taken at an informal meeting held after conclusion of the state legislature session, a senior leader told Deccan Chronicle. On January 14, two party workers — Anandamurthy and Dileep submitted voluminous documents to Justice Kempanna in the form of affidavits.

On behalf of these two party workers, a team of the BJP’s legal cell would attend proceedings in the commission, the leader added. In the detailed affidavit submitted to Justice Kempanna, these BJP workers have complained of large scale irregularities in ‘re-do’ scheme in Arkavathy layout along with a complaint about violation of six guidelines sets by the division bench of Karnataka High Court.
