Hyderabadis are children of Telangana, says K. Chandrasekhar Rao

Rao said he feels part of the city despite hailing from another district

Hyderabad: In a clear bid to woo Seemandhra people in Hyderabad, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao described all those settled in Hyderabad as Hyderabadis and not settlers but children of Telangana.

“Remove from your minds that you are settlers. You are not. Your forefathers have come here and settled. You are Hyderabadis. I hail from Siddipet in Medak district, but my grandson says he is from Hyderabad. I also say I am from Hyderabad,” Mr Rao said.

Rao said he feels part of the city despite hailing from another district.

He said this after people from Seemandhra region in Kukatpally joined the TRS under the leadership of commercial taxes minister T. Srinivas Yadav at the CM’s Camp Office in Begumpet on Thursday.

“There could be doubts in the minds of some people. I want to clear them. Wherever you live you have to live with confidence. I request my brothers and sisters not to keep anything in mind. Even if an ant bites you, I shall stand by you. If a thorn pricks you, I will remove it with my teeth. It is my responsibility as Chief Minister to ensure peace and security to all those living here,” he added.

Mr Rao went on, “The Telangana government has no regional difference. Since we do not discriminate against people based on region, we have provided a state funeral to film producer D. Ramanaidu.”

He said, “When someone asks my grandson from where he hails from, pat comes the reply: Hyderabad. I tell him we hail from Medak but he asserts he is from Hyderabad. I also say I am from Hyderabad.”

Seeking cooperation of Seemandhra people in the all round development of Hyderabad and Telangana, he said during the Telangana movement he had to take a stance for certain reasons, but it is past now. Telangana has been achieved and it is needless to think about the past.

“We go to Singapore and all over the world and seek investments in Telangana. We will certainly welcome investments from AP too. Why not? You don’t have to worry about anything in this state. We will stand by you,” he said.

Talking of his friend Subba Rao, hailing from Krishna district, he said whenever his children go to his native place for Sankranti festival they tell villagers that their hometown is Hyderabad. Recently, when I called on the Supreme Court Judge, his daughter said my father is from Andhra region, but I am from Telangana,” he added. Mr Rao promised a meeting to discuss problems of people in Hyderabad.
