Watch: The ‘mauka’ joke on Team India; South Africa join bandwagon

The Proteas never won the World Cup, but beat India thrice in mega event

Mumbai: If fans in India thought there will advertisements only to cheer the Men in Blue, they were wrong. After the cracker of an ad endorsing the India-Pakistan match – with the joke being on the opponents who failed to beat Team India five times before the February 15 meeting – the tables have turned.

This time, the gag is on Mahendra Singh Dhoni and company promoting the India-South Africa match. Like Pakistan had not tasted win against the Indians, the latter never managed to overcome South Africa thrice in the mega event.

They lost to the Proteas in 1992, 1999 and even in 2011.

Hence, the commercial brings two South Africans to an Indian household with a bag full of crackers. The men – in their trademark team jersey – break into: “Mauka, Mauka (Chance, chance).”

Though India maintained their winning run against Pakistan, it remains to be seen whether they can actually make use of the chance and break the jinx against AB de Villiers’ army on February 22.
