Watch: Sachin Tendulkar, the Man of the Match, against Pakistan

The 18-year-old boy from Mumbai bravely fought Imran Khan, Wasim Akram

Mumbai: In 1992, when India took on Pakistan Down Under, an 18-year-old impressed both with bat and ball – Sachin Tendulkar. Being the youngest in the mega event, he took on the likes of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Mushtaq Ahmed with a brave heart and took India to a respectable total.

Though 216 wasn’t a winning total but balls were wasted by openers Ajay Jadeja (46 off 77) and Kris Srikkanth (5 off 39). With Aaqib Javed generating pace and bounce on the flat track, reaching 200 looked bleak.

Then, came out Tendulkar, and cut Aamer Sohail for a boundary. The rest, as they say, is history.

He ended up being the top scorer with 54 (unbeaten) and also took a wicket conceding only 37 runs off his 10 overs.

Team India will miss the services of the now retired Master.
