Centre urged for CBI probe

Irregularities alleged in Kasturba Gandhi college

Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court directed the Centre and the CBI to consider a representation seeking investigation into the misuse of funds allotted to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), including the illegalities committed during recruitment of special officers on contract basis, and pass appropriate orders within eight weeks.

The bench was dealing with a petition by P.V.S.K. Chakravarthy stating that he had complained to the CBI director to initiate a probe into irregularities in the Vidyalaya. He made a representation on September 1, 2014, based on proceedings issued by the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Society on March 20, 2014. He urged the court to direct the authorities not to continue with the special officers on contract basis, and to take up permanent recruitments for strengthening the education system in KGBV. The bench on November 17, 2014 issued notices to the Centre, CBI, Telangana government and other concerned authorities.

The bench has found that none of the respondents except the state project director of KHBV society filed counter affidavits in the matter despite four adjournments. The bench observed that “as the relief sought is innocuous in nature, being a direction to consider the petitioner’s representation, we are not inclined to keep this matter pending any longer.”While disposing the case, the bench directed the authorities to consider and pass appropriate orders in accordance with the law upon the petitioner’s representation and the exercise shall be completed within eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

MLA complains of protocol violation

Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, YSR Congress MLA from Piler constituency of Chittoor on Thursday approached the Hyderabad High Court seeking action against the authorities for inaction in following protocol guidelines and also the inaction of the AP state government in taking action against the district collector and other officer for violation of protocol guidelines.

The MLA submitted that local authorities failed to follow protocol and did not invite him for two public functions organised in October 2014 in his constituency for distribution of cheques for payment of Rs 24 lakh to water suppliers.

He said he was also not invited for the inauguration of the NTR Srujala Sravanthi scheme in Kalakada mandal headquarters that comes under his constituency. He alleged that the authorities organised the programmes with the leaders of the ruling party instead of him who is an elected public representative of the area. The MLA told the court he had lodged a complaint with the government, but there was no action. He urged the court to direct the state to take action against the officer responsible.
