Reason behind Ranbir Kapoor's absence from 'Roy' promotions revealed

Mumbai: While Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez have been on a promotional spree for their upcoming film ‘Roy’, their co-star Ranbir Kapoor has been giving the promotions a miss. There have been numerous rumours and speculations behind Ranbir Kapoor’s absence.

Reports stated that the actor refused to promote the film as he just has a cameo appearance in the film. However producer Bushan Kumar revealed the actual reason behind Ranbir’s absence in an interview with Absolute India.

The producer was quoted as saying, “There is no problem at all. Actually, the thing is, we don’t want to reveal much of the kind of role Ranbir has in this film. Mostly because he plays the title role and if too much information about that same would be revealed then no one would go to watch the movie. Roy is a very special film and it’s not a run-of-the-mills kind of a movie. It’s a very different film. You know the moment Ranbir would say things about his role, then the whole film will get disclosed. So we’ve kept him for the end. On February 9, we are doing a press conference with Ranbir where he will, in a limited way, speak about the film as well as his role.”

Director Vikramjit was also quoted as saying, “When I told him about this he said media is going to speculate. He said I didn’t even tell the media anything after Bombay Velvet speculations happened. But he did say I can clarify on his behalf, but I said I don’t need to.”

“I think the final ten days will be better as it’s a bigger bang. And at the end of the day let’s be honest, this is not your typical Ranbir Kapoor film. He is playing a character which is there for 55 minutes, and it’s a two hours ten minutes film. Arjun and Ranbir have two separate tracks happening at the same time. But Ranbir is playing Roy, so what else can I say. It was gutsy for him again to play a part like this. And I hope his faith and vision again works out.”

‘Roy’ is scheduled to release next week on February 13.
