K Chandrasekhar Rao approves Rs 10 crore funds for health institute

Centre is developed with an investment of Rs 60 crore, and will be ready over next 24 months

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has promised to give Rs10 crore to the Indian Institute of Public Health, which had its foundation stone laying ceremony at Rajendranagar, Ranga Reddy district, on Tuesday. The centre is being developed with an investment of Rs 60 crore, and will be ready over the next 24 months.

The state government’s contribution, according to earlier estimates, was to be Rs30 crore. However, initially, Rs10 crore will be released. Professor K. Srinath Reddy, president of Public Health Foundation of India, said, “There will be a multi-disciplinary learning system to create practical pathways for improving deliverance of health programmes.

There will also be research conducted here. Training in all disciplines of public health and development of skill of para-medical personnel and health auxiliaries will be carried out.”
