Delhi cab rape case: Uber driver denies raping woman passenger

Yadav told the court that he was falsely implicated in the case

New Delhi: A fast-track court on Tuesday recorded the testimony of the accused, Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, who allegedly raped his female customer in December.

Yadav told the court that he did not commit sexual assault upon the prosecutrix and was falsely implicated in the case.

“The prosecutrix started crying as soon as she sat in my car. When I asked her as to why she was crying, she scolded me saying it was none of my business. I then overheard she was taking to someone over phone saying Ayush had done something wrong with her. She was speaking to her fiancée Akshay,” the accused told the court.

Yadav said that he witnessed a huge traffic jam in Punjabi Bagh and he took a turn towards Rampura to reach Inderlok. He dropped the prosecutrix at her house and went back.

“I had parked my car near 56 Bigah park in Sarai Rohilla. Meanwhile, I noticed that the prosecutrix had left her cellphone in the car. It was ringing. It was the number of prosecutrix’s mother. I took the call and she requested me to give her cellphone back. I went to her home again and returned her cellphone. I don’t know why she then alleged that I had raped her,” Yadav told the court.

He also said that he neither slapped the prosecutrix nor misbehaved with her. He also denied that he had threatened to insert an iron rod in her private parts.
