The Cyberabad police has launched a digital passport verification system
Police officials with the tablet computers issued to them for verifying passport applications.
Hyderabad: If you are a passport applicant living in Cyberabad police commissionerate limits special branch cops will now come to your house with a Samsung tablet computer. The Cyberabad police has launched a digital passport verification system which would speed up the process and is error free.
Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand said the police verification process will now take only three days instead of 13 earlier. Every verifying officer is provided with a 10 inch tab 4 with Internet and relevant software. Seventy Samsung tabs were bought for Rs 16 lakh, officials said.
As part of digitisation all verifying officers are connected to the CP’s office. “They will verify the applicants physically and submit reports in the prescribed format to this unit office online within three days. After receipt of Intelligence clearance the reports are uploaded to RPO Hyderabad through the official website for passport applications instantly,” officials said.
They said the number of applicants have increased to 95,000 in 2014 from 88,000 in 2013. This new system will ensure corruption free verification.
