Telangana to sell more land, buildings; move to fetch state exchequer Rs 10,000 crore

These offices are located along the main roads

Hyderabad: After the Secretariat, the Telangana government has identified more government buildings located in prime areas of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts that can be auctioned.

These offices are located along the main roads and the government feels that they will fetch huge revenues if auctioned.

The government is actively considering building new guest houses on the city’s outskirts on the unutilised University of Hyderabad lands in Gachibowli.

However, selling the Lakeview Guest House may trigger a controversy since it has been allotted to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as his camp office.

The government plans to spend a portion of this money to build integrated complexes in all district headquarters to house government offices in a single location and use the rest for the water grid project, 2BHK houses for the poor and 3-acre lands for Dalits.

The government is targeting Rs10,000 crore this year through sale of government buildings in all the 10 districts and has asked the respective collectors to speed up the process for identifying such buildings.

Sources in the revenue department said the government has fixed targets to be met this year for each collector with Ranga Reddy topping the list at Rs 3,250 crore.

This is followed by Karimnagar at Rs 2,480 crore, Warangal Rs 2,270 crore, Medak Rs 1,380 crore, Mahbubnagar Rs 640 crore, Hyderabad Rs 225 crore, Nizamabad Rs 120 crore, Adilabad Rs 50 crore, Khammam Rs 25 crore and Nalgonda Rs 10 crore.
