Minister T Harish Rao orders hospital staff to return bribe

Acting on a tip off, Mr Harish Rao had made a surprise visit to the hospital
Hyderabad: Faced by the wrath of minister T. Harish Rao, a few government district hospital staff at Sangareddy in Medak district returned bribe amounts they had taken from pregnant women.
Acting on a tip off, Mr Harish Rao had made a surprise visit to the hospital four days ago. “Minister Rao asked women patients in one ward if they were getting proper medicare. He asked them whether the staff demanded money. After much cajoling, some blurted that they had paid Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 800 to some staff. The minister pulled up the erring staff and asked them to return the money. They did it,” MLA Chinta Prabhakar said.
In a different case, the friends of a minister had approached him over a delay in clearance of files in Warangal and Karimnagar. Though it’s a routine file, the delay of a couple of months had forced them to seek the minister’s help.
The minister asked his secretary to take up the issue with the concerned official. As instructed, the official was called up and the file was cleared. “But, we came to know later that the official took a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the person to clear the file despite the call from the minister’s office,” an aide to the minister said.
