Congress leaders call on Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan

Congress leaders and others met the Governor at Raj Bhavan

Hyderabad: Congress leaders from city on Thursday called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and demanded a CID probe to go into the large scale filing of applications with the revenue authorities for construction of RCC houses when the government itself did not seek such applications.

They have represented to the Governor that a silent and systematic campaign was launched in all slums and small bastis in the GHMC and Secunderabad cantonment area that the state government will give free houses to poor people.

They said a large number of brokers were behind those who facilitated thousands of poor people to apply for houses with revenue authorities. They have also said these brokers prepared a proforma and got it filled by poor people and collected huge amount of money with a promise that they will provide house for them. They told the Governor that the new Hyderabad District Collector had to put out a notice that no applications will be entertained and people should not believe the touts.

“Despite this, still the MRO offices at Secunderabad and other places have been collecting the applications ostensibly at the pressure of the brokers’ the delegation told Governor. They also submitted a few applications to the Governor for his perusal which they collected from MRO offices. Congress MLCs M.S. Prabhakar, M. Ranga Reddy, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, former minister Marri Shasidhar Reddy, former Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy and others met the Governor at Raj Bhavan.
