Hyderabad police rescue 120 more child labourers

Police has arrested eight agents who had brought the kids to Hyderabad for work

Hyderabad: In a fresh raid conducted by the South Zone police in different areas of old city, as many as 120 child labourers were rescued on Thursday night.
The children, who are mainly from Bihar and Jharkhand, were secretly employed in bangle manufacturing units at Chandrayangutta, Kanc-hanbagh, Falaknuma, Indiranagar, and other places.

The police has arrested eight agents who had brought the kids to Hyderabad for work. Police has also found a link between illegal financ-iers of Hyderabad and child labourers. DCP, South Zone, V. Satyanarayana said more illegal financiers who had funded the units would also be arrested soon. Police is also likely to book cases against bangle traders in Begum Bazaar and Lad Bazaar, who buy the bangles from manufacturing units.

“We are looking into the possibility of booking case against the owners of Rajdeep Bangles and Parameswar Bangles in Begum Bazaar and other sellers in Lad Bazaar,” said the DCP. On Thursday, separate teams raided eight places of Hyderabad following information from sources. Despite the previous raid in Bhavani Nagar, the agents and employers had continued to make the kids work covertly.
