Update to iOS 8.1.3, don’t worry about space

Apple now won’t force you to delete data and free up space for the new update

Apple has rolled out the next update for iOS, v8.1.3 and makes sure you won’t need to rush to your laptop or desktop to backup our precious data to install it.

Of all the previous updates on the iOS platform, the iPhone and iPad, especially the 8GB and 16GBvariants, were constantly needed to backup their data in order to make space for the new update. However, with the new 8.1.3 iOS update, Apple has removed the irritating instruction and limitation to backup and free up space for the new update.

The iOS 8.1.3 update has the following new features, fixes and updates.

  • Reduces the amount of storage required to perform a new software update.
  • Fixes the issue that prevented some users from entering their Apple ID passwords for Messages and FaceTime.
  • Addresses an issue that causes Spotlight to stop displaying app results.
  • Fixes an issue that prevented multitasking gestures from working on iPad.
  • Adds new configuration options for education standardised testing.

The new update rollout seems like a set of bug fixes from Apple. This hints that Apple is setting the new iOS version, v8.2, to get ready for the wearable, which is about to be launched by the tech giant.

The iOS v8.1.3 update is available for all devices running iOS v8.x, which include the iPhone 4Sand above, iPAD 2 and above, and the iPod Touch fifth generation.
