Two foreigners attack doctors of Osmania General Hospital

The foreigners came for treatment with minor injuries after a road mishap

Hyderabad: Two foreign nationals and students of an engineering college, who appeared to be under the influence of some drugs, created tension in Osmania General Hospital on Tuesday. They went about attacking two doctors.

The foreigners came for treatment with minor injuries after a road mishap. However, they abused and beat up a house surgeon and another junior doctor before vandalising the hospital room by throwing chairs and flipping cots.

Police arrested the accused Hassan Mohi Alroi, 20, a Sudanese national, a resident of Vanasthalipuram, and his friend Abdul Azeez Suleiman, 22, a Saudi Arabian national, both students of St Mary’s Engineering College, Pochampally on Tuesday.

According to the chief medical officer of OGH, Dr Mohan, the duo came to the hospital with a minor injury due to a road mishap.

“They attacked the house surgeon Dr Ramakrishna without any provocation, and vandalised the room. They punched and slapped the doctor and his junior on their face,” he said in the police complaint.

Police officials said that the duo went on shouting and throwing chairs and flipping the cot. Both were under the influence of some drugs or alcohol.

“Hassan had an injury on his face that could be due to a road accident. He consulted the doctor, but started a quarrel alleging he is not treated properly. After we took them into custody, we found that they were not able to talk properly because they were inebriated.

They must have been high after taking drugs,” said Afzalgunj inspector C. Anjaiah. Police booked a case for hurting public servant and property. Both were sent to judicial remand.
