Kiran Bedi sends legal notice to Arvind Kejriwal for 'misusing' her photograph

‘He is using my name without my permission’

New Delhi: BJP chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi on Tuesday sent a legal notice to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly "misusing" her photograph in the party's poster campaign without her permission.

According to a senior BJP leader, Bedi in her legal notice has asked the AAP leader to give a reply on her notice, failing which she would drag him to court over the issue.

"It irked me. He (Kejriwal) is using my name without my permission. On the poster, it says 'Honest' under his name and 'Opportunist' under mine. This is not acceptable," Bedi told reporters.

She also said that the law would follow its course now.

Aam Aadmi Party has put up posters on many auto-rickshaws plying in the capital, asking the people of Delhi to choose between Kejriwal and Bedi for the CM's post.

Posters of AAP can be spotted on auto-rickshaws having the picture of Kejriwal, which has the word "Imandar" (honest) printed below it while that of Bedi has "avsarvadi" (opportunist).

Training his guns on Kejriwal, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said the former Delhi CM has a habit of spreading "lies".

"AAP and Kejriwal have violated the Model Code of Conduct through these posters. Bedi in her notice also threatened to go to Election Commission against him for appropriate action," a senior BJP leader said.

Senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav claimed, "BJP leaders egged us on to use her image in our campaign posters. But now that we are using her picture they have started complaining."

Before the announcement of Delhi poll schedule, AAP had also released its poster in which it had "projected" BJP's senior leader Jagdish Mukhi as BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate.

Over the issue, Mukhi had also sent legal notice to Kejriwal for allegedly "misusing" his photo for the campaign without his permission.
