Uber cab rape case: Forensic experts confirm fingerprints of victim from car

The court also recorded the statements of seven other prosecution witnesses

New Delhi: Forensic experts on Friday confirmed before a Delhi court that fingerprints lifted from the car have matched with that of the 25-year-old woman who was raped allegedly by the driver of the US-based Uber cab.

The court also recorded the statements of seven other prosecution witnesses, including two more forensic experts, four Delhi Police officials involved in the probe and a doctor who had examined 32-year-old accused driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav after his arrest.

In his deposition, Harinder Prasad, a senior scientific officer-II in Central Forensic Science Laboratory, CBI, said he had lifted and developed finger prints during inspection of Swift Dzire car in which the alleged incident took place.

He told Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that the chance prints had matched with the specimen finger and palm prints of the victim. Apart from Prasad, the court also recorded statements of two more forensic experts.

Dr Alok of Bara Hindu Rao Hospital said he had examined the accused on the morning of December 8, 2014 and during examination, multiple abrasions were found on his face and other body parts.

He said after collecting the samples of Yadav, he had sent the accused to another department for expert opinion on potency report.

During the day's hearing, Yadav's counsel cross-examined sub inspector Devender, who had arrested the accused from Mathura on the evening of December 7, 2014, and deposed that no public witness was asked to join the probe at the time of the arrest or during the driver's personal search.

"We were apprehending that there may be hue and cry as accused was local of that area and we left the place immediately," the official said, while denying that he had deliberately not sought public witnesses to join the probe.
