Hyderabad: If ambitious membership targets of political parties are to be taken seriously, almost one third of Telangana’s population will be a member of some party or the other.
All major political parties, the Congress, Telugu Desam Party, BJP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi have set ambitious membership targets ever to strengthen the party in all the districts and make it poll battle ready by 2019.
Telangana’s population is about 3.63 crore, according to a latest report. Men constitute 1.81 crore while women number 1.80 crore which comes to about 3.61 crore. Major parties like the Congress has set ambitious membership target of 35 lakh, TD 10 lakh, BJP 35 lakh and the TRS 37.70 lakh totalling a whopping 1.17 crore — almost one-third of TS population.
