Telangana CM Chandrasekhar Rao sends post seekers to slums

Rao decided to undertake a whirlwind tour of all districts in a phased manner

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is keeping party leaders, cadre and officials on their toes with his slum yatra in various districts.

Aspirants for nominated posts and other favour seekers from districts were forced to stay back following the CM’s programmes. After a four-day sojourn in Warangal and a trip to Mahbubnagar slums, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao has now decided to visit Gajwel on Tuesday followed by visit to Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Khammam. The CM was shocked at the state of affairs in implementation of welfare schemes, complaints from poor over denial of pensions, ration cards, house sites and other welfare schemes, lack of drinking water and other basic amenities in Warangal and Mahbubnagar.

Following tremendous response from people in Warangal and Mahbubnagar slums, he decided to undertake a whirlwind tour of all districts in a phased manner.

“Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has proved that he is not someone who confines to four walls of the Secretariat. He is visiting slums to improve their lot.

He will visit Gajwel on Tuesday and then go to Karimnagar,” Mr T. Harish Rao, irrigation minister said.

“We are waiting for the CM’s visit on January 23. Karimnagar got Rs 150 crore in the his first visit,” Gangula Kamalakar, MLA said.

Mr Kamalakar alleged that Karimnagar town and district were neglected by Telugu Desam and Congress governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh and it is now seeing a ray of hope under the leadership of K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

While putting party leaders and cadre on toes, Chief Minister is also sending shivers down the spine of officials, especially civic officials. The recent reshuffle of collectors and SPs is part of the Chief Minister attempt to brace up the administration at the state and district level, especially after he tasted reality in Warangal.
