Raj Babbar returns to television in 'Pukaar'

Pukaar revolves around the conflict between a father and son
Mumbai: Veteran actor Raj Babbar, who is currently seen on Life Ok’s Pukaar, had been away for a long time before making an appearance on the television show. As a resolution of sorts for 2015, the actor says he wants to get back to what he is best known for — acting. “Vipul Shah approached me for the show and since he is a credible name in the industry and I liked the role, I decided to take it up,” he says adding, “The role suited my age and is different from the regular
saas-bahu
and women’s tragedy shows.”

Pukaar revolves around the conflict between a father and son — something the actor identifies with. “Every son thinks that his father is too conservative. But as the older male member of the family and as someone who has seen a lot more of the world, the father is usually just trying to protect his child. The story is very real and appealed to me.”
So will we see him doing more television shows in the future? “I would love to do a talk show. A lot of daily soaps have no substance these days — they just stretch it as if it were a rubber band. So if there is a show with a definite end that appeals to me, I’d consider it.” Raj’s son Aarya was recently on Bigg Boss as a contestant. We asked him about his views on the son’s participation on the show. “Honestly, it came as a surprise to us. He told us just two days before going into the house that he had been approached for the show. I think he conducted himself well on the show. He now helps in household work as well, since he had to do everything by himself in the Bigg Boss house.”

About his other son Prateik, Raj believes that he hasn’t got his due. “Both Aarya and Prateik are talented, but they haven’t got the right projects yet. Even I had to struggle before I got good offers. I’m sure they will get success too,” he adds.
