Microsoft to launch special edition of Lumia 830, 930 in gold finish

The smartphones’ will sport and black and white body with anodized gold finish

Washington: Microsoft has reportedly announced two new special editions of Nokia Lumia 830 and 930 smartphones, which offer the same specifications as its predecessor. The traditional bold colours of the handsets have been replaced with black and white rear panels and an anodized gold finish.

The Verge reported that, although Microsoft has been a bit late in joining the gold trend, it has pulled off an impressive trick by providing the two devices a lustrous makeover without making them look tacky. The gold trim set against a glossy black and white back does look stylish on both the devices and the Nokia logo, picked out in gold, on the rear of the devices also looks pretty tasteful, the report said.

This will most likely be the last time Microsoft releases a smartphone under the Nokia brand name. However, neither of the new handsets will be available in the United States, as Microsoft plans to release them only in "select countries in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa and China."

The Lumia 930 will be available in two color variants — black, which will be sold this week, and white which will be available towards the end of January 2015. Moreover, the Lumia 830, will be available in both colours from February 2015. Microsoft, however, has not disclosed the prices so far.
