Supreme Court agrees to hear Italian marine, Massimiliano Latorre's plea

Latorre suffered a condition similar to a mild stroke, in September, 2014

Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear the plea of Italian marine Massimiliano Latorre, who is facing murder charges for killing fishermen in Kochi.

Latorre had moved the top court demanding extension of his stay in Italy citing Italy citing his heart surgery on Jan 5.

Latorre, had submitted a request to the SC to allow him to return to Italy for his “more rapid and complete recovery” after he suffered a condition similar to a mild stroke, in September, 2014.

Latorre’s lawyers submitted a request to the apex court for his return to Italy to allow his more rapid and complete recovery.

The SC, in December 2014, refused the pleas of murder accused, Massimiliano Latorre, seeking extension of his stay in Italy on health grounds and his fellow marine permission to travel there for Christmas, leading them to withdraw their applications.
