Andhra Pradesh in fix over housing rent allowance demands

State government employees working at Hyderabad are getting 30 per cent HRA
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government is in a fix over accepting the demand of continuing the housing rent allowance of Hyderabad staff who might be moved to the capital region.
State government employees working at Hyderabad are getting 30 per cent HRA and their counterparts working in Vijayawada are getting 20 per cent HRA.
The IAS officers committee appointed by the state government to look into shifting of the heads of the departments had recommended that 30 per cent HRA be continued for staff moved to the capital region.
But, if the staff shifted to Vijayawada receives 30 per cent HRA, employees in Vijayawada may also demand 30 per cent HRA. Also, IAS officers are paid by the Centre and it may not approve an HRA hike for Vijayawada staff. In that case, the state will have to pay for this hike.
