Movie Review: Khushi Khushiyagi is altogether a happy film

This film marks a successful debut of yet another Sandalwood director

Director: Yogi G Raj

Cast: Ganesh, Amulya

Rating: 3 stars

They are back for the third time, and they have every reason to be happy, and happier! The onscreen chemistry of golden star Ganesh and Amulya continues to charm even in Khushi Khushiyagi, which is a remake of Telugu blockbuster Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde. After Cheluvina Chittara and Shrvani Subramanya, Ganesh and Amulya return with yet another simple and entertaining movie kick starting 2015 on a happy note for Sandalwood.

It marks a successful debut of yet another Sandalwood director despite taking up a remake for his venture.

Keeping it simple and encashing on the successful pair, the director plays it with ease while webbing a neatly narrated story with proper proportions of humour and drama. The crux of the screenplay does remind of Beladingala Baale, one of the Sandalwood’s greatest films directed by Sunil Kumar Desai.

However, this remake is penned down emphasising more on humour which is a modern twist in the tale.

The protagonist Raj, played by Ganesh falls for a beautiful girl at his friend’s wedding and manages to get her mobile number and thus the movies takes off after he notes down her ‘fancy’ mobile number but incorrectly! Unaware of the wrong number, he instead rings up another girl while assuming he is speaking to the beautiful one he saw at the wedding. Whereas, the lead heroine played by Amulya, has her own fantasy over true love that her perfect one should love her for what she is as a person and not how she looks.

The twist continues throughout the film with more ‘truth’ behind the mistaken phone call getting revealed.

The songs are romantic and Amulya does not fail to look stunning ever since her total makeover whereas Ganesh performance is seen to be effortless.

Overall this is a happy film to watch but the director could have trimmed it a bit in the second half. Watch out for more Ganesh-Amulya onscreen pair in the near future!
