Guwahati: The Union home minister Rajnath Singh here on Thursday said that the Central government has decided to follow zero tolerance policy against Songbijit faction of NDFB, a terrorist group responsible for killing more than 71 plantation workers in Assam.
Informing that Assam government has been asked to launch an all out operations against the outfit, Mr Singh told reporters, “the Centre has adopted a zero tolerance policy against all acts of terror and the similar policy will be adopted in this case also.”
Talking tough, Mr Singh declared that strong action will be taken against NDFB(S), which massacred over 71 people in Assam on Tuesday, asserting that the Centre has “zero tolerance” policy for such “crafted terror”.
“We will take strong measures to deal with the outfit and will control it effectively,” he told reporters at Biswanath Chariali in Sonitpur district during his visit to review the situation in the state, which has been rocked by the bloodbath by NDFB rebels and retaliatory violence by plantation workers.
Asked about operations against the outfit, the Union minister said, “operations will definitely be launched against the outfit but cannot say when.”
Mr Singh who met the victims at Biswanath Charialai circuit house of Sonitpur district on Thursday told reporters, “we are keeping a close watch on the situation of the state. The state government has been told categorically to go for an operation all out against NDFB.”
