Drunk rams car into autorickshaw, 4 hurt

Jubilee Hills police said Pavan Kumar was drunk and could not even walk

Hyderabad: A drunk businessman crashed his car on an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler on Jubilee Hills road number 10 on Thursday night. Four people were injured in the mishap and were shifted to hospital.

The man, Pavan Kumar Kolluri, owner of Pavan Traders, was driving the car at high speed and hit the autorickshaw from behind. A woman and two children were seriously injured, while another person, who was riding a scooty, fell on the ground as the autorickshaw hit the two-wheeler.

Jubilee Hills police said Pavan Kumar was drunk and could not even walk.

“After the crash, we found that he could not even talk or walk and was speeding. He has not yet answered questions like where he was coming from and where he was going,” said a police official.

The autorickshaw passengers were going to Chiranjeevi Blood Bank. “The car came from behind and hit the autorickshaw, which turned turtle,” said SI Maqsood Ali.

After the accident locals informed the police and emergency numbers and prevented the drunk driver from escaping. The condition of the victims remains serious in hospital.

Police suspect that Pavan Kumar was coming from a party and was going to his house in MP & MLA colony.

The police confiscated the car, an Audi (AP09CP0027), and took Pavan into custody. Police said that Pavan Kumar was alone in the car and was driving.

A case has been booked against him for drunk driving and causing injuries due to negligence. If the victims die he will be booked for culpable homicide, officials said.
