THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PCC chief V. M. Sudheeran has lashed out at his detractors in the backdrop of the party MLAs supporting Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on the liquor policy at the legislature party meeting on Monday.
“Nobody should think that everything is in our hands. Those who are with us while in power need not be with us always,” he said at the commemoration meeting of senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran on his fourth death anniversary.
Mr Sudheeran claimed that when the issue of taking back Mr K. Muraleedharan into the party had come up many years ago, only P.C. Chacko, P. P. Ramachandran and he supported him, which Mr Muraleedharan might have forgotten now. At the CLP meeting, Mr Muraleedharan had lashed out at Mr Sudheeran.
“When Karunakaran lost power, there was none with him and his experiences taught everyone a harsh lesson. Karunakaran used to communicate with us even though we opposed him on many issues. Many group leaders had asked us not to trust Muraleedharan. He becomes weak when meeting the media, unlike his father,” said Mr Sudheeran.
Mr Sudheeran had reserved his comments on Monday when reporters sought his take on the CLP meeting held at Cliff House, when 31 out of 38 MLAs were present. Mr Sudheeran had said that he would comment later.
During the unofficial CLP meeting, Mr Sudheeran was keeping a tab on the television news channels in the KPCC office on its outcome.
An MLA of the ‘A’ group told DC that they were waiting to see if Mr Sudheeran would change his views on the liquor policy. If not, they would personally meet the AICC leaders in New Delhi.
“We may meet the AICC leaders. Or else we will insist on holding the KPCC executive meeting. Unfortunately, Sudheeran can’t stand negative comments, but he can criticise anyone,” said the MLA.
