KPCC panel reconstituted

Muraleedharan had demanded convening of the committee which was accepted by Mr Sudheeran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KPCC–government coordination committee has been reconstituted with the inclusion of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman P. J. Kurien, MPs Kodikunnil Suresh and Lok Sabha Congress Parliamentary Party whip K. C. Venugopal and KPCC vice-president Laly Vincent, increasing its strength to 17.

The committee was reconstituted at a time when PCC chief V. M. Sudheeran has come under fire from the majority of Congress MLAs on the revised liquor policy.

Last week Congress MLA and former KPCC chief K. Muraleedharan had demanded convening of the committee which was accepted by Mr Sudheeran.

One of the KPCC vice-presidents told DC that Mr Sudheeran was keen to bring in a few of his supporters to the committee like Mr Kodikunnil Suresh and Mr K. C. Venugopal before the next meeting which is considered to be crucial.

“In the coming days, both Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala would also demand inclusion of CLP leaders in the coordination committee,” said a KPCC vice- president.

Earlier, the members of the committee included Oommen Chandy, V. M. Sudheeran, Ramesh Chennithala, Aryadan Muhammed, C. N. Balakrishnan, M. M. Hassan, K. Muraleedharan, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, C. V. Padmarajan, P. P. Thankachan, V. D. Satheeshan and K. M. A. Methar.
