Indian Intelligence agencies warn of terror strike during Barack Obama visit

American agencies have been briefed of these intelligence inputs

New Delhi: Close on the heels of LeT founder Hafiz Saeed threatening India after Peshawar attack, the Indian intelligence agencies have warned New Delhi of desperate attempts being made by Pakistan terror groups to carry out a ‘’spectacular strike’’ in the Valley.

Inputs available with border security forces, shared with all central agencies, reveal that four separate modules of Pakistan-backed terror outfits are positioned at multiple sensitive locations in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the intelligence inputs, Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives are positioned at two different locations in Rajouri. The other two terror modules consist of LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen operatives and are positioned along Samba and Hiranagar areas in the Jammu region.

The strikes, which are being planned at the behest of Pakistan’s ISI and Pakistani Army, are expected to be carried out during US President Barack Obama’s visit to India to draw “international attention” to the Kashmir issue.

Another terror alert circulated among all central agencies reveal LeT’s gameplan to target the Samjhauta Express train and the Delhi-Lahore bus service. This input has been generated by the Multi Agency Centre, functioning under the Intelligence Bureau.

Security sources said the American agencies have been briefed of these intelligence inputs due to the closer intel-sharing arrangement ahead of the President Obama’s visit.

The security officials feel that while Hafiz Saeed may want to draw attention to the Kashmir issue, the Pakistani government is aware that any major militant strike in India would dissipate very quickly any sympathy that Islamabad may have garnered from the international community after the Peshawar school attack.

“It remains to be seen how much the Pakistan can control Hafiz Saeed and his terror outfits in the next two months,” a top security official said. All security agencies have been asked to beef up security along the border and all vital installations and sensitive locations and remain on high alert for the next two months.
