Xiaomi Redmi 1S back on sale next week, Redmi Note 4G isn’t

Two weeks ago, Xiaomi was banned from selling their smartphones in India

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has been in troubled waters for a while now, and a week ago, the brand was banned from selling, importing or manufacturing their smartphones in India.

The Delhi High Court had banned Xiaomi from selling their goods in India following a case filed by Ericsson against the Chinese manufacturer. Following the court orders, Xiaomi said in a statement that they would abide by the rules and would put all sales on hold till the case was cleared. Flipkart, the online sale partner with Xiaomi, was also ordered to stop selling all Xiaomi handsets.

However, a few days ago, the Delhi High Court stayed the ban on the brand till January 8, 2015 and allowed the company to sell Qualcomm-based smartphones in India.

Flipkart has now listed the Xiaomi Redmi 1S sale for next week. December 23, 2015 will witness a flash sale for the Qualcomm-based Redmi 1S smartphones and the registrations have begun.

However, Since Xiaomi has been temporarily banned from selling or importing non-Qualcomm-based handsets in India, we wonder why is the Redmi Note 4G not showing up on the sale? The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is a Qualcomm Snapdragon-based handset and has not been restricted for sale as yet. Xiaomi, prior to the ban, had confirmed the sale of the Redmi 4G in India to begin by mid-December. We speculate the reason to be the issues with importing the 4G-based handsets as the Delhi High Court orders were for the ban on importing Xiaomi handsets too.

For now, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G and 4G handsets are not going to be on sale until the case with Ericsson and Xiaomi are settled in court. Since Flipkart has limited stock remaining for the Redmi 1S, the sale will resume online.
