Chennai: A Class X student was arrested in connection with rape and murder of a Class VI student, who used to go to school with him, in Vellore district.
The body of the 11-year-old victim was found in a mango grove in Kalyana Periyangkuppam on Tuesday.
The police zeroed in on the boy after a guava vendor told them that the two had bought some fruit from her that afternoon. He confessed to the crime.
“It appeared the boy sexually assaulted the girl after she had died”, an officer in the investigating team said.
